First Game

The night before Ian's first tee ball game, a cold front blew through making the game a cold, slightly rainy, and windy one.  Even though the conditions were not ideal, the Dragons (Ian suggested this for their team name and it got chosen by his teammates!) played hard and did an awesome job.  It's hard to put into words how excited Ian was about his first game!!
Walking onto the field to warm up.

Sheer joy!

The Dragons

Ready to shake hands with the other team at the end of the game.
They called the game (due to the weather) before Ian got to bat a second time, and he was not happy about it.  Coach Jim told him that he would get to bat first at the next game, and was true to his word. Great first game!

Ian's 5!!

How is it even possible that 5 years have already gone by??  I took the day off from work, and we had so much fun spending the day together doing activities that Ian chose.
I put balloons all over his floor and streamers across his bedroom door as a fun morning surprise.
Enjoying a cinnamon roll with birthday sprinkles. :)
Striking a Spider Man pose before heading to JumpStreet.
JumpStreet is a huge trampoline park, and Ian had such a fun time running, jumping, and watching other kids do tricks.  We only stayed for 2 hours, and both of us were worn out by the time we left!

Exhausted!
After lunch at Chick-fil-A and a good nap, he was ready to open some presents.

His big present was a new playground for the backyard.  He was a little confused as to how all of that wood in our garage was going to turn into a fun swing set.

Happy 5th Birthday!!

Birthday Eve Celebrating

The day before Ian's birthday, I took cupcakes to his class for a little celebration.  Ian picked superhero cupcakes, and it was fun to be able to bring a special treat for him and all of his friends!

A little embarrassed that the whole class was singing "Happy Birthday" to him.

The messier, the better. :)
Ian and his best friend, Grant, showing off their new rings.
Being silly after his last bath as a 4 year old.

Of course we had to take a silly one!

First Tee Ball Practice

This spring, I let Ian decide what sport he wanted to try.  He chose tee ball, and was so very excited for his first practice.  This was Ian's first experience on a team sport, and he was lucky to have 3 very patient and kind coaches.

Warming up with the "Down and Dirty."
Getting some help on throwing.
Talking with coach.

Running the bases.
Getting ready to bat.

Good catch!

Superhero Dreams

Ian has taken a huge interest in superheroes in the last year. We went to a birthday party a few weeks ago, and they had a face painter.  Ian went inside and started getting his face painted, while I was entertaining a friend's baby.  When I went in to check on him, I discovered that he had chosen a full-face Spider-Man, and he was sitting more still than I have ever seen while she painted!  I didn't get a good picture of him before nap because we had a slight meltdown at the party, but love this photo of his Spider-Man face while in his Batman shirt.  He is all boy! :)

Austin Toros Game

Ian went to his first basketball game this month!  We watched the Austin Toros play, a minor league of the San Antonio Spurs.  It was our first time in the Cedar Park Center, and we had a fun evening with our friends Liz and Bethany.  Ian loved doing all the chants and cheers along with the cheerleaders and announcer.  He paid close attention to the score after every basket, and was so excited that our team won that night!
Pre-game excitement.
A fist pump after scoring a basket...and making sure the score increased on the scoreboard. :)

The mascot.  Ian loved watching him do silly things.
His snack choice was blue cotton candy.  Thank goodness for wipes!
